1. Scope and publisher
This policy applies to Readune for Android, package name com.thinksview.inkreader, published by ThinksView (Thinksview Team on Google Play). “We” refers to the publisher. Contact us at [email protected].
Readune does not require a Readune account. It has no advertising, behavioral analytics, or tracking SDKs. We do not operate a server that receives your books, extracted text, search queries, bookmarks, highlights, or reading history, and we do not sell this information.
2. Your library and local data
Readune stores imported books, converted reading copies, covers and metadata, extracted text and search indexes, reading positions, bookmarks, highlights, reading statistics, and preferences in the app’s private storage on your device. Importing, format conversion, indexing, search, and reading take place on the device.
Reading-session counts, prompts, natural-voice usage limits, accepted voice-model terms, and Plus entitlement state are also recorded locally. Bundled public-domain sample books can be imported like your own files. Files and reading activity are not uploaded to us.
The Android app does not provide iCloud library or reading-progress sync. Android system backup and cloud backup of the app’s data are disabled in the app configuration.
3. Read Aloud and optional voice downloads
Natural speech synthesis runs entirely on your device. Readune does not send the text being read or generated audio to a voice service. Android system voices shown by the app are filtered to exclude voices that declare they require a network connection; availability of installed system voices is managed by your device and its speech provider.
You may choose to download natural-voice model files. These requests go to public model hosts such as Hugging Face (huggingface.co), hf-mirror.com and GitHub, or the Readune mirror at readune-assets.thinksview.com hosted on Cloudflare R2. Downloaded model files are checked against their SHA-256 checksums.
As with ordinary HTTPS downloads, those hosts receive technical request information, such as your IP address, request time, and HTTP headers. The hosts may process request information to deliver and secure their services under their own policies. We do not add book contents, search text, reading history, an account identifier, or an advertising identifier to these requests, and we do not use hosting request data to identify, profile, or track readers. Downloaded voice packs can be removed in the app. Some models have separate terms shown before you use them.
4. Google Play purchases
Readune Plus is optional. Google Play processes Android payments, subscriptions, refunds, and purchase-account information under Google’s privacy policy and applicable Google Play terms. Readune does not access your payment-card details.
Through the Google Play Billing Library, the app receives product identifiers, purchase state, purchase tokens, and signed purchase information to verify purchases on the device, determine Plus access, and acknowledge purchases with Google Play. Entitlement state is stored locally; we do not operate a developer payment backend or send purchase tokens to one.
You can restore purchases using Google Play and manage or cancel subscriptions in your Google Play account. Removing app data or uninstalling Readune does not cancel a subscription or delete Google’s transaction records.
5. Permissions, website, and external services
The Android file picker or a file you explicitly share with Readune grants access to files you choose. Network access supports optional model downloads and Google Play services. A media-playback foreground service, wake lock, and optional notifications support Read Aloud and its playback controls. Readune does not request location, contacts, camera, or microphone access.
Support, legal, book-source, and subscription-management links can open external websites or apps when you choose them. Those services process requests under their own policies. Exporting or sharing a book through an app you choose is a user-initiated transfer, rather than an upload to a Readune server.
Readune may ask Google Play to show its own rating and review dialog, based on session counts stored locally. If you choose to submit a rating or written review, Google Play handles that information in its own process under its terms. Public reviews are visible on Google Play; closed-test feedback may be shared with the developer through Google Play. Readune does not receive your rating or review text through the in-app review callback. You can manage and delete reviews through your Google Play or Google Account.
The Readune website is static. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process technical request information to deliver, secure, and maintain it. We do not place advertising or behavioral tracking scripts on the site. A support email you send to us may contain your email address and information you choose to include; we use it to respond to your request. Please do not send private book files, payment details, or account credentials unless necessary for a support issue and specifically requested.
6. Retention, export, and deletion
You choose which files to import and which voices to download. You can export an original book from its information screen, delete books in the library, and remove downloaded voice packs. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes its app-local data. Files outside the app, such as originals in your Downloads folder or copies you exported, must be deleted separately.
There is no Readune account or server-side book library to delete. If you have sent us a support request, you can ask about or request deletion of that correspondence at [email protected]. We retain support correspondence only as needed to handle support, security, and applicable legal obligations. Information held by Google Play or another external service is managed through that service.
7. Intended audience
Readune for Android is intended for readers aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not run a service that collects children’s book files or reading activity. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through support, contact us so we can address it.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The date above identifies this version. For privacy questions and support, email [email protected]. Public bug reports may also be filed in the support issue tracker; do not include sensitive information in a public issue.
